Children ages 5 and up enter our TeRRiFiCC Academy Program (TAP) where athletes learn gymnastics in a fun, safe and positive environment. The goal of TAP is to help make your child become a happier, healthier and more athletic individual with good character. As a student in this program, children will benefit from increased physical activity and improvement in strength, flexibility and coordination as well as an increased commitment to character based on the Character Counts! Program and the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship (TeRRiFiCC).

Athletes follow JAG’s curriculum which is designed as a series of logical progressions and attainable goals. When students reach proficiency at a set of skills on an apparatus, they are invited to present their skills at a
presentation day where they are then presented with a medal for the event. When an athlete has earned all 4
medals of one color, he/she earns an all-around medal for that level and is progressed to the next color level. Classes are grouped by gender, age and color level. Blue/Yellow are taught together in a 1 hour class and those in the
Green/Orange levels are taught together in a 1 and 1/2 hour class.
Students progressing to Red/Purple will then take part in a
2 hour class. (If a child has prior gymnastics experience, we ask that a short evaluation appointment be arranged to insure appropriate placement.)
The focus of the Academy Program is gymnastics related fitness rather than gymnastics competition. However, your child’s gymnastics education will give him/her a strong foundation for future success in any sport, including competitive gymnastics. If you and your child feel that he/she may be a candidate for competitive gymnastics, you may opt to transfer from the Academy Program into the Team Program as a Level 1 at any time with the recommendation of the instructor.

Foxes and Pups
(Walking-2 years) Foxes and Pups includes some open time
as well as some structured time.
This class is centered around age appropriate
developmental movements using special, tot-size apparatus
with strong emphasis on socialization and group
involvement. Designed as a transitional class, the Foxes
and Pups are being prepared to move into the Kangaroos and
Joeys.
Kangaroos and Joeys
(2-3 year olds, coed) The Kangaroo class is for the 2-3 year old who still
needs a parent or caregiver to participate but is prepared for more
structure within the class. The toddlers
develop and refine their fine and gross motor skills, body awareness and
coordination while learning social and listening skills. Basic gymnastics
and sports readiness, combined with music, games and preschool readiness
skills create a fun and healthy atmosphere for older toddlers.
Camels (3-4 year
olds, coed) This class is open to young pre-schoolers who do not need a
parent or caregiver in the gym. Camels continue to develop strength,
flexibility and coordination by being introduced to basic gymnastics
positions and skills. In a fun, energetic and positive atmosphere, games
and obstacle courses teach and reinforce the gymnastics concepts as well as
basic sports and pre school skills.
Elephants (4-5
year olds, coed or boys only/girls only) Designed for the older pre-schooler,
Elephants learn gymnastics skills using
preschool equipment and the “big kid” equipment. This class is
designed to create a fun, safe and challenging environment for your child
where games, obstacle courses and gymnastics skills are conquered and the
child is prepared to enter JAG’s Academy program.
Zebras
(3-5, coed) Zebra’s is a mixed age Camels and Elephant class. This class is
ideal for close aged siblings or friends as well as for Camels who thrive on
being with older peers.
Lions/Tigers (5-6 years, boys only/girls only;
Kindergarten) Lions/Tigers is a beginning Blue/Yellow class that open to
boys (Lions) or girls (tigers) who are already enrolled in Kindergarten. These
students will be working the same skills as their older peers, but will be
welcomed into a transitional environment that allows for introduction of
skills while still incorporating elements of pre-school gymnastics.
