Joanna began coaching at JAG in October 2011. Born in Santa Rosa, CA, she started gymnastics at the age of 8 and it's been a part of her life ever since. In 2004 and 2005, Joanna competed and placed in the Regional Championships and Junior Olympic Nationals. She attended UC Berkeley and acquired her Political Science degree while competing for the Cal Women's Gymnastics team from 2006-2009. In 2009, she earned her career high All-Around score of 38.800 at a meet against Arizona, where she placed second. That same year, she also received a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.
Joanna's hobbies include martial arts, reading, stunt work, swimming, and skiing.
Meghan joined JAG in January of 2011 as a coach and Marketing Coordinator after completing her BA in Media Arts from the University of Arizona. Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, she was a competitive gymnast for six years, attending three AAU Junior Olympics. After her competitive retirement, Meghan was able to witness her own mother opening a recreational gymnastics facility. Transitioning into the dance world, she was a captain and choreographer for her high school and college dance teams, and completed collegiate coursework in Jazz, Modern, and African dance. She is trained in CPR and first aid by the American Red Cross. Outside of JAG, Meghan enjoys traveling, eating, and musicals of all kinds.
Jazmine joined the JAG family in August of 2009 and is a lead instructor for the pre-school gymnastics program. Originally from Corona, California, Jazmine brings with her a colorful background in teaching and yoga. She is a 200-hour registered Yoga Alliance instructor, and teaches yoga throughout the Los Angeles area. Jazmine also holds a California teaching credential from CSULA and was a 2001 Teach for America corps member. After completing her Teach for America commitment, Jazmine continued to teach in LAUSD for an additional three years. Jazmine also holds a BA in English from UCLA with a minor in Women's Studies. She has created short fiction work that has been published in numerous independent publications and is currently working on her first novel. While not at JAG, Jazmine enjoys dancing, perfecting the art of vegan, gluten-free baking, going to the theatre, and supporting the arts in any way she can.
Sophia Hocini joined JAG in September 2011 and brings with her extensive gymnastics experience. She was a club gymnast at SCEGA from 1993 to 2006, then a member of the Cal Women’s Gymnastics Team from 2006 to 2010. At UC Berkeley she was the Women’s Gymnastics MVP 2008-2010, Team Captain from 2007-2010, and a 3-time NCAA Regional Qualifier, all while acquiring a B.A. in Integrative Biology. Sophia is now at UCLA working toward a Master’s Degree in Public Health. Sophia was a 2006 Algerian National Team competitor and 2005 Junior Olympic National Vault and All-Around Champion.
Sophia coached recreational and team gymnastics at GoldenBear Gymnastics and coached dance and soccer at the Sports Camp of America in Japan. She is a dual citizen of the United States and Algeria and enjoys biking, reading, and watching sports in her spare time.
